SKYJO supports 2 to 8 players. The sweet spot is 3-5 players for most groups. With 2 players, games are faster (~15 min) and more strategic since you can track your opponent's cards more easily.
A full game typically takes about 30 minutes, though individual rounds are much shorter (5-10 minutes). The game ends when any player reaches 100 total points across all rounds. With fewer players, games tend to be quicker.
SKYJO Action adds a separate deck of Action cards (double play, peek at cards, swap with opponents, steal actions) and Star wild cards that can match any number in their row or column. It's more chaotic and has higher player interaction. Start with the original SKYJO if you're new.
Full comparison →If you complete a vertical column of 3 identical cards (same number), that entire column is immediately removed from your grid and discarded — scoring zero points. This is the most powerful move in the game and a key part of advanced strategy. Note: it must be a vertical column, not a horizontal row.
Your round score is doubled as a penalty. This applies even if you tie for lowest — you must have strictly the lowest score to avoid the penalty. This makes timing critical: only end the round when you're confident you're ahead.
No. Once cards are placed face-down, you cannot peek at them until they are revealed through normal gameplay. This memory element is a core part of SKYJO's strategy — try to remember what you placed where during setup.
